Hello...

I am using SSD on my MacBook Pro with an Alesis Trigger I/O and a Roland FD-8 hi hat pedal. Has anyone here with experience with Midipipe created a pipe to allow for CC control on the hi hat? I have read other topics in the boards here on it, but there are no "tips" per se using Midipipe, just the Windows counterparts... I am confused as to how to tackle this... I am thinking I need to intercept the CC4 message, change it to a CC1, and then play the MIDI note cooresponding to either the correct sound within the CC parameter range or using MIDI note 60 (KDS?) and allowing SSD to play the correct sound? If this is correct, where I am stuck is I have no clue as to how to go about that task.

I also have Addictive Drums and the hi hat articulation is really nice and I would like to be able to play the same way using the SSD kits...

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks,
--Rob.

A youtube tutorial on MIDI pipe, handy - they aren't doing the EXACT thing we are, but it is similar enough that I got MIDIPipe to do what I needed it to.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hHByfJWAf0

You need 4 elements:
MIDI IN (set to trigger IO)
Control Split (set it to listen for CC4, click the inverse check box)
Message Converter (IN CC4, Out CC1)
MIDI OUT (MidiPipe)

Set SSD to listen to Midipipe instead of your Trigger IO.
Everything else should just 'pass through' MIDI pipe unaffected.

Set your Trigger IO hihat settings to 67 (or 60) 67 is shank, 60 is tip. We're talking the stick here, and what part is used to hit the hihat - the sound that was recorded. essentially, set all sounds to either 60 or all to 67, and it should work.
