I cant remember who was asking for a Satriani-Like snare sound.....but i thought i would give it a whirl.
Heres a demo where it toggles back and forth between Satriani's "Made of Tears (Super Colossal)" .........and my drum version.

The Details:
Youll need to route your SSD so each drum channel in Kontakt feeds into its own track in your DAW
- AC Kick (although ToneDef Kick comes awful close as well)
- Snare 9A (has the upper smack)
- Snare 21 (has the lower body and sizzle)
- Snare 21 NRG ROOM (a good dose of it)
- Snare 18 (adds body "thunk" and depth)
**in SSD Kontakt, use equal amounts of snare 21 and 18, and a tad bit more of Snare 9A than those other 2**
Post processes in your DAW-
Add some post EQ (800Hz +5db) on your snare track. This is KEY to the sound, gives it that woody tone/flavor.
Also run some parallel compression; assign a compressor to a stereo buss - 4:1 ratio, medium attack (enough to let the transients come through unaffected) and a VERY fast release. Pull down threshold until your getting about 4-5 db in gain reduction. On the drum track(s) in your DAW, assign the buss compressor and have it at -20 to -15db on each track(s) (depending how "hot" your like your drums)
