Hi,
I'm having the same problems with some of my ERP3 kits, even when I start kontakt as a standalone application.
It seems, that the paisteSig 18 Crash(B) has something to do with it.
When I mute this instrument no freeze/crash occurs.
Can anyone confirm this behaviour ?

Hey ingofriedrich - that's brilliant. It's exactly like that for me. I've had this crash happening all the time with no solution for months. Now it isn't happening at all with that cymbal muted. Great; at least now I can use those kits.

Doghea? Any joy your end? I'm going to email support with this info and see if they can fix that instrument.

Many thanks - you may possibly be a life-saver as I've NEEDED to use the Nice Crack kit on a track but couldn't find a way. Now maybe by replacing that cymbal..

I'll get back if I find out anything more about this.

Edit: I can confirm that this seems to be the problem alright. The only 2 kits in Rock Pop 3 that weren't causing the crash for me were Classic Pop and Vintage Fatty, neither of which use that particular cymbal. All the other kits do use that cymbal and all of them cause the crash.

Lucky for me I also have the Rock Pop 1 collection which has the same cymbal in it. I simply substituted that for the one in RP3, matched the settings and now those kits appear to work fine. So I suggest anyone with this problem simply change that cymbal for another one and hopefully that will solve your problem, at least for now.

Thanks again ingofriedrich,
Mark

It seems that deleting that crash from the problem kits and then re-loading the same one again also works.

It'd be interesting to hear what other people are finding with this.

Hi Mark,
nice to hear, that I could help by finding a workaround. It costs me some sleepless nights and lots of frayed nerves to locate the bug, because every crash needs a complete reboot and reload of my environment...

I sent the information to the support team without any response right now.
Maybe you could do the same, in the hope, they correct the damaged kits.
BTW: a reload of the cymbal seems to eliminate the problem. Thanks vor the hint.

Ingo

Hi Ingo

Me too with the sleepless nights but it's great that you have found the bug. I did send the info to Support yesterday and got back a reply. They are taking this seriously and will be using what you've found to hopefully come up with a proper fix.

It's good that we can re-load the cymbal but it does mean re-entering all the settings for it in the particular kit which is a bit of a pain. Not so much of a pain as not being able to use them at all though. :)

All the best,
Mark

Hi guys,

Great news! I've just come home from a week long vacation and haven't tried this workaround yet. I'll try it tonight and post my results. It sure looks promising. :)

BTW
I haven't had the time to try the workaround yet...
Are there any plans from Yellow Matter to make new working multis and offer them to us, the customers? :)

From my email communication with them they say that it seems to be a patch loading issue related to the latest versions of Kontakt and that they have forwarded the details to NI and will post a walkthrough to the forum when they have come up with a fix.

So we have to wait a while yet for that. Meanwhile however at least it is possible to work with those kits even if the workaround is a bit of a nuisance to set up.

I'm sad to say but this workaround doesn't work for me. Vol. 3 still hangs my whole DAW. :(

Post subject: am pretty sure the "PaisteSig 18 Crash" sample is the issue

Greetings,

Was really happy to find this thread (before actually purchasing any expansion packs), so that I knew exactly what to expect--and how to deal with this particular issue. As such, I was not surprised when I loaded up the "Angry Rock Kit" and, after playing my kit for a few seconds, Kontakt Player crashed. Based on what I learned here, I went in and replaced all instances of "PaisteSig 18 Crash" in the kits with the equivalent instrument from the "ESSENTIAL ROCK-POP VOLUME 2" library instead (and saved the results)--and Kontakt has not crashed since that time.

Furthermore, for anyone who replicates this process, you'll note that the memory size of the instrument/samples in the "ESSENTIAL ROCK-POP VOLUME 3" is about 35% smaller than the same instrument/samples when loaded from the "ESSENTIAL ROCK-POP VOLUME 2" library. As such, I will go out on a limb and suggest that at least some of the sample info for the "PaisteSig 18 Crash" is probably missing and/or corrupted in sample library for volume 3 (only).

Also, if you want to go through a blanket replacement of the troublesome "PaisteSig 18 Crash" in the "ESSENTIAL ROCK-POP VOLUME 3" kits (or make a different substitution if you don't have the instrument in a different expansion pack), these are the multis you'll need to address:

- Angry Rock Kit
- BeefyDry Kit
- Big Fatty Kit
- Deep Rock Kit2
- Nice Crack Kit

Furthermore, if you want to test this theory before making any modifications, the other kits ("Classic Pop Kit" and "Vintage Fatty Kit") should not crash Kontakt or your DAW.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Alan
